Bersa Discos #7 – DJ Negro ‘Sabor a Gaita’

Now the sun is coming out, my Ecuadorian neighbours have starting playing their amazing cumbia tunes again. Which got me thinking that I’ve had a shameful lapse in that sound over the last few months. Luckily our West coast friends at Bersa Discos just sent us their latest crunked out cumbia jam, taken from another double artist release on a limited edition 12″ vinyl (pre-order) with a full digital package dropping in a few weeks. For lucky number 7 they have pulled togther tracks from Montreal’s Reggaeton experimentalist El Nosotros and Buenos Aires’s DJ Negro. From the EP here is Negro sounding like Crookers DJing at a sonidero sound system at Tepito market, with a refix of Andres Landero’s ‘Sabor a Gaita’ – a crunching cumbia destined for the dance floor. Git it ahorita.

  1. [...] To mark the release of Bersa Discos 7 on vinyl earlier this month here is a little collection of the great artwork from the previous releases on the San Francisco based label. The seventh volume features Argentine neo-cumbia/mash-up don DJ Negro (who also featured on #2 and #5) and Montreal based twisted-reggaeton producer El Nosotros. Check out DJ Negro’s Sabor a Gaita Remix here (courtesy of Ghetto Bassquake). [...]
